Abstract

Motor abilities can be considered as determining preconditions for performing physical activities. The aim of the study was to determine the current motor ability levels of high school students attending sports classes. The research sample consisted of 15 male soccer players. The test battery consisted of standing long jump and jump ergometry assessing strength abilities, 20m multi-stage shuttle run and Cooper test assessing endurance abilities, 4×10 m shuttle run and Repeated Sprint Ability test assessing speed with changes of direction, knee to wall test and sit-and-reach assessing flexibility, and a squat followed by 180° turn and 3 m sprint assessing coordination abilities. The descriptive statistics was used to compute the mean and standard deviations for somatic parameters and motor fitness tests. The high school soccer players achieved above-average scores in lower limb explosive strength and speed endurance. On the contrary, they achieved a poor level of flexibility. In other conditioning and coordination tests, they achieved average scores.
