Abstract

Objective of our research was to find out the effect of the 5-weeks speed training programme on the development of reaction speed, acceleration speed, straight-line speed and speed with change of direction. The measurement were providen on sample of 10 female basketball players BDŽ ŠK MBU Banská Bystrica. The average age was 20.4±2.2 years, body height 170.3±7.7 cm and body weight 64±6.9 kg. The special speed-formed training programme consisted of different speed exercises and plyometrics in the duration of stimuli about 25 - 30 minutes at the beginning of the training unit, three times a week, for 5 weeks. In Disjunctive Reaction Speed Test on the Fitro Agility Check Desk was during the experimental period showed statistically and substantively significant difference (T = 0, n = 10, p < 0.05, r = 0.63 - large effect). Similar results were showed in the test 5 metres linear acceleration running (t = 4.457, n = 10, p < 0.05, d = 1.41 - large effect) and in the test 10 metres linear acceleration running (t = 5.775, n = 10, p < 0.05, d = 1.83 - large effect). In the Lane Agility Test wasn´t showed major improvement (t = 0.904, n = 10, p > 0.05, d = 0.29 - small effect). Considering this fact we state that the formed intervention programme was appropriate for development of disjunctive reaction speed and short distance linear speed, at least in chosen team.
