Role of the northern great plain region baths in wellness tourism and recreation in Hungary

Abstract

Hungary has very favorable conditions in the domestic and
international health tourism market. In Europe we are counted as a
medicinal water-great power. Nowhere else in the country there are
so many beaches, aquaparks, adventure baths, slides, indoor and
uncovered spa areas as in the Northern Great Plain region. The
development of health tourism in the region's tourism development
strategy is therefore the top priority. Since the development of health
tourism since 2000, the development of bath developments as a
tourist attraction has been given increased attention. As a result of
the development new baths were created, the water surface was
increased for existing baths, quality improvements were made, which
also affected the designe elements of the environment. During spa
development, service enhancement has been of great importance as
new wellness items such as sauna programs, beauty services, and
massage items have emerged. In our article, one of the marketleading
baths of the Northern Great Plain Region is presented at the
bath of Debrecen Aquaticum.
